Clever Trevor Supported Ginetta Wins Winter Series
We previously reported that the car driven by Daniel Laddiman and run by Team Ladders Motorsport (essentially his father Phil and any friends who were available) had achieved the superb result of finishing third overall. There was then the announcement of a winter series but the budget conscious team were not certain if they could stretch the purse strings that far. They dug deep and made the decision to enter with the aim of winning the prize of an engine upgrade for next season.
We are pleased to report that the decision was the right one with Daniel taking the overall win. There were two rounds, one at Silverstone and one at Brands Hatch, with two races at each round. The first round at Silverstone was a hard fought affair but with a win and a third place Daniel came away as series leader and the holder of the Walter Hayes Trophy (the largest one in the picture). On to Brands Hatch and it would have been easy for a youngster like Daniel to let the pressure get to him but he remained calm and collected an excellent second place in the first race. As he had finished ahead of his nearest rivals he still had the series lead going into the second race the following day. At this point the weather decided to add some interest to proceedings with rain in the morning. By the time of the race it was drying rapidly but most drivers, including Daniel, still opted for wet weather tyres and this worked well at the start of the race as he took the lead. As the race wore on it was clear that a dry line had developed and Daniel decided to look after his tyres and allowed some other cars to pass him. He still maintained sufficient pace to stay ahead of the championship rivals by coming home fourth.
This excellent display of driving prompted us to confirm immediately to Daniel that he would be having our continued support in the Ginetta series for 2008. We will keep you informed of the team’s progress during next season but if you happen to be at a race meeting next year where Ginettas are on the programme call in and say hallo to Daniel and everyone at team Ladders. Clever Trevor are proud to have been been able to support Ginetta Senior Championship entrant Daniel Laddiman during the season that concluded at Thruxton yesterday. Having been in the lead of the championship at one stage Daniel was beset with a spell of bad luck including two non finishes at Rockingham but still finished a very creditable 3rd overall. We have provided Daniel with parts and consumables throughout the season and are very pleased to have been able to help the very budget conscious Team Ladders, run by his Dad Phil, wherever we can. We hope to be able to expand this support of the team next season in whatever form of racing they decide to embark.
